Jaipur, Aug. 6 ANI: A nine-day old Japanese test tube infant, who took birth here two weeks ago at a private hospital in Ahmedabad, is faced with an unusual dilemma, that of getting a valid passport to return to its home in Japan. The baby's birth led to the dilemma since the biological parents have divorced after donating their egg and sperm and transplanting them into an Indian surrogate mother. On being informed about the child's birth, the father Yukufusi Yamada, who is a renowned doctor himself, rushed to India along with his wife. But the father arrived only to be faced with a difficult law disallowing him to take along the newborn to Japan following visa restrictions. The newborn has been denied the visa. For, as per Indian surrogacy laws, a father alone cannot adopt a girl child. He is required to apply along with his wife. Since the visa limit was about to expire, Dr. Yukufusi Yamada had to fly back and left the baby's 70-year-old mother behind to look after the infant."Dr Yamada divorced his wife around middle of June this year. After their divorce, he came to India to take the baby along with him. But according to Indian law, a single father can never bring up a female child. But the point here is if 50 per cent of father's DNA is there inside the child, why can't he adopt the baby He is the natural father after all," said Dr. Sanjay Arya of Arya HospitalThe couple had visited India nine-months ago to have a baby from a surrogate mother. Their non-resident Indian friend-cum-host Kamal took the couple to an Ahmedabad hospital where they could have a surrogate mother to give birth to their child. The couple donated their sperms and returned to Japan. The child was born later.Recently, following the serial blasts in Ahemedabad, Dr. Yukufusi Yamada's friend Kamal, brought this newborn to Jaipur in Rajasthan from Ahmedabad in Gujarat."The baby's grandmother is with the baby in the hospital. After the Ahmedabad blasts I took the baby along with me and came to Jaipur. They wanted to take the baby back with them to Japan. So I went to the Japanese Embassy for the visa but there they asked to bring the passport and the no-objection certificate. But being new to this place, the baby's grandmother could not arrange it till now," said Kamal, host and friend of the Japanese couple.Since the baby was not physically fit and so on humanitarian grounds this private hospital has promised to provide free of cost treatment to this baby girl. Hospital staff has christened the baby to be known as "Manjhi", which is a religious sign in Buddhism like Swastika sign in Hinduism. But the Manjhi's problem is now feared to turn into a major crisis after three months, when her grandmother's visa limit would expire and she would also be required to return to Japan. Washington, Aug 6 ANI: Acclaimed Hindu and Indo-American leader, Rajan Zed, today announced that the UK-wide boycott call of Hindus against Hollywood movie "The Love Guru" for lampooning Hinduism has been very effective, contributing to its blunt failure at the box office.Zed, who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism and who spearheaded the protest movement against the movie starting in March, stated that although various issues contributed to its failure, but the boycott was one of the major factors. According to reports, many Hindus as well as non-Hindus have been shunning this movie in UK, where it was released on August 1."The Love Guru" debuted at number 3 at the UK box office on its August 1 release, taking just about 499 thousand pounds on its opening weekend. Chris Carter's sci-fi "The X Files: I Want to Believe" was released the same weekend and took about 887 thousand pounds for the same time in UK. Even the animation movie "Space Chimps", also released on August 1, came out higher at box office than "The Love Guru".Rajan Zed thanked the UK filmgoers for having a feel for the pain of Hindu brothers-sisters by rebuffing "The Love Guru".It will reportedly face boycotts in various countries where it will be released in the near future. Protests are reportedly being planned in India on its release there by various organizations including Hindu Alliance of India, Shri Ramayan Pracharini Sabha and India Heritage Panel. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has launched a worldwide protest drive. A Canadian Hindu group was also promoting the worldwide boycott. A prominent Jewish Rabbi, Elizabeth W. Beyer of Nevada USA, has also called for boycott of "The Love Guru" because it "lampoons Hinduism, mocks Ashram life and Hindu philosophy."Rajan Zed argued that this movie was pure and blatant ridiculing of Hinduism.Meanwhile, signature campaign launched by Hindu groups against "The Love Guru" has crossed the 7,000 mark. Various Hindu, Catholic, Presbyterian, Jewish, Native American, Methodist, Buddhist, youth, film, spiritual orreligious, music, yoga and civil rights leaders have already issued statements in support of this cause espoused by Zed.Zed lauded various non-Hindu groups for their support gestures. Nevada Clergy Association has been supportive to the cause and has said, "Hollywood should be more conscious while handling faith related subjects." Daisy Khan, Executive Director of American Society for Muslim Advancement, said, "I stand with many of my Hindu brothers and sisters. I will not watch this movie." Dwight N. Hopkins, Professor of Theology at the University of Chicago Divinity School, has said about the movie, "It exhibits the bodacious, repulsive, iconoclastic, sophomoric, insulting, stereotyping, and illogicality." United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has declared "The Love Guru" "morally offensive" and slapped it with its highest rating "O". "Preview Online", which calls itself "informative tool for Christian parents and moviegoers", gave it Morality Rating of -4 Dangerous, which is lowest of five categories, highest being 4. "Christian Spotlight on Entertainment" gave it a Moral Rating of "Very Offensive". Washington, Aug 4 ANI: Hindus have congratulated Anglicans for taking a strong stand on environment, poverty and interfaith dialogue at the historic ten-yearly 20-day Lambeth Conference, which concluded at Canterbury in United Kingdom today.Acclaimed Hindu leader Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada USA, lauded some of the interfaith gestures mentioned in the "Lambeth Indaba Reflections" issued on the occasion, which said, "We must stand and work together with other faith communities making space in our hearts for one another. Effective and meaningful dialogue will only take place where there is gentleness, honesty and integrity."Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, also commended Anglicans' resolutions for making environment a high priority; creating interfaith connections for environment advocacy; developing worship resources on environmental themes and using liturgical seasons for environmental awareness; brokering conversations between business, government and environmentalists; urging bishops for a simpler lifestyle; and working with other faith groups to lobby governments for environmental laws."Conference laying stress on Anglicans' "commitment to the poor, the marginalised, the exploited, refugees, indigenous peoples, the internally displaced and victims of war, terror and natural disaster" and its offer of "support to minorities who suffer human rights abuses" was a remarkable signal," Zed added.Zed also praised Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams for urging to capture a middle way in the presidential address during concluding plenary today and for saying "the image of God is the same everywhere".But, Zed said, that all world religions and denominations should ponder and come up with clear and open stands on issues surrounding gender and sexuality, sooner the better. "Lambeth Indaba Reflections" document was prepared by a group lead by Western Australia Archbishop Roger Herft during this summit of worldwide Anglicans, a Christian denomination, who number around 77 million.
